Remember The Collection? The first installment in my new DeWitt Agency art-crime series? Yeah, maybe not so much. What happened to that, anyway?
What happened is that I started querying agents, a process that hasn’t improved since the last time I did it (for Doha 12). I got one request for a full copy, and thereafter one of the nicest rejection emails I’ve ever received. From the rest: crickets.
Being two-thirds of the way through the sequel, Stealing Ghosts, has forced the issue. If I’m going to keep working on this series — which I’m really enjoying — I have to eventually kick the first episode out the door so it can blaze a trail for the rest to follow. So eventually is now.
What does this mean? I need to get a cover, file for a copyright, put together the print and e-book editions, and start lining up early reviewers (BTW, if you’re interested in being an early reviewer — basically, having a review cocked and ready to fire the moment the Amazon and B&N listings go up — tell me in the comments). This is the easy part.
The hard part is that once it’s out there, I have to market it. As part of this effort, you may start to see some changes here. I’ll let you know before I do anything rash. And subscribers: I may ask for your help.
