The Collection is Coming out of Storage

The Collection: The DeWitt Agency Files #1Remember The Collection? The first installment in my new DeWitt Agency art-crime series? Yeah, maybe not so much. What happened to that, anyway?

What happened is that I started querying agents, a process that hasn’t improved since the last time I did it (for Doha 12). I got one request for a full copy, and thereafter one of the nicest rejection emails I’ve ever received. From the rest: crickets.

Being two-thirds of the way through the sequel, Stealing Ghosts, has forced the issue. If I’m going to keep working on this series — which I’m really enjoying — I have to eventually kick the first episodeĀ out the door so it can blaze a trail for the rest to follow. So eventually is now.

What does this mean? I need to get a cover, file for a copyright, put together the print and e-book editions, and start lining up early reviewers (BTW, if you’re interested in being an early reviewer — basically, having a review cocked and ready to fire the moment the Amazon and B&N listings go up — tell me in the comments). This is the easy part.

The hard part is that once it’s out there, I have to market it. As part of this effort, you may start to see some changes here. I’ll let you know before I do anything rash. And subscribers: I may ask for your help.

In the meantime, check out the sample chapters from The Collection. If you like what you see, tell other people who might be interested. The sled’s heading down the hill now — buckle up for the ride.

Excellent! I’ll be putting together an e-ARC in the next 3-4 weeks. And don’t worry — I won’t be shy about announcing a launch date.
