The November Man marks Pierce Brosnan’s return to the spy/assassin genre (last outing: 2005’s The Matador). In this one, he’s a retired CIA operative drawn back into the game to rescue a lost love who has incriminating information about “the next president of Russia.” Deadly complications ensue. Yes, he’s playing Liam Neeson.
Brosnan’s fine in the role, even if not everything he does makes a lot of sense. Aussie Luke Bracey is his former protégé/nemesis; Olga Kurylenko (Magic City) is the pretty damsel in distress and walking MacGuffin. Have you seen this before? Most likely. Do lots of extras die? Yes, they do. If you can see it for $5 or less and have a spare 108 minutes, you could do worse (3 Days to Kill, for instance).
