South Tech Today: Armored Luxury Vehicles

According to The Economist,┬árich people in the industrialized West are spending huge sums of money to armor their already expensive cars…even where there’s no threat.

“Demand has grown as more people join the ranks of the super-rich and can afford to minimise threats, whether they be real or imaginary…Most fitters agree that armour is becoming something of a status symbol among celebrities and other well-to-do petrolheads.”

In the 2032 of South, Our Hero Luis manages a shop in Costa Mesa that up-armors SUVs and luxury sedans owned by nervous people in the walled enclave of Newport Beach. I figured it would take a few more years before this would go mainstream. Not so, apparently.
